TAINAN, Taiwan—Eighty international students at the National Sun Yat-sen University in Kaohsiung attended Shen Yun Performing Arts International Company’s second performance at the Tainan Municipal Cultural Center in the afternoon of Feb. 22, 2014.

Liang, a marine engineering major from mainland China, said, “Shen Yun’s performance was amazing. The performers’ dance skills are outstanding.”

At the heart of the performance is classical Chinese dance, one of the most comprehensive dance systems in existence.

“The difficult techniques, as well as the beauty that they emanate, requires many years of rigorous training,” said Liang. “I especially enjoyed the piece Ne Zha Churns the Sea—the dance, the music, and the animated backdrop brought the story to life and made me feel like I was part of it. It was incredible.”

Established in 2006 by a group of overseas artists, Shen Yun has set out on a mission to revive 5,000 years of civilization, in particular the spirituality that was part of China’s divinely inspired culture.

Liang remarks, “It is a pity that Shen Yun cannot be seen in China. I feel very fortunate to have had the rare chance to watch Shen Yun today. When I return, I will tell my family members and friends to come watch Shen Yun as well.”

Chinese exchange student Wang believes that Shen Yun has done a superb job of presenting traditional Chinese culture through music and dance and introducing traditional stories to non-Chinese audience members.

Wang says that when he was in China, he had read about the truth of the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners; when he came overseas, he had continued to look up new information about Falun Gong on Youtube. As a former media student, Wang believes that the Chinese regime is not always right and urges mainland Chinese people to come overseas to understand Falun Gong and see the truth for themselves.

Wang especially praises the performance of Shen Yun’s live orchestra and the precise interactions between the dance performers, the music, and the backdrop. He remarked that Shen Yun’s presentation of the traditional stories was very unique.

He urges his fellow students in China to attend Shen Yun’s performance, saying they should watch and learn more about traditional culture and about Falun Gong in order to fully understand the truth.
