They even drove all the way from Southern California’s Inland Empire to Los Angeles in order to attend the evening show, which took place at the renowned Chandler Pavilion.
“It was absolutely stunning,” said Mrs. Hicks. “It just captivated you the whole time.”
The married couple says it was worth the 65-mile drive from the mountains and deserts of the Inland Empire. “I would come and see it again,” said Mrs. Hicks.
Mr. Hicks, a registered nurse in an intensive care unit, agreed.
“It was beautiful! The music, the stories … it was amazing,” Mr. Hicks said.
Mr. Hicks savored the live orchestra. “They were magnificent,” he said. “That’s talent and skill impressive beyond expectations.”
Mr. Hicks said he could feel the healing power of Shen Yun’s live orchestra.
“It was uplifting,” he said. ”Each piece ended with an uplifting note. It didn’t end on a tragic note.”
Mrs. Hicks, who was recently retired, added the overall performance left her feeling encouraged.
“I really appreciate their faithfulness to their trade and to their dance and to their expression of their culture to expose that to other people so we could get a good feel for the beauty of their culture,” said Mrs. Hicks.
