“I love many, many things of Shen Yun very much,” he said. “The dances are fantastic. The dancers have excellent skills and techniques, especially their facial expressions and eye contact that perfectly matched their movements. I felt that they are very honest and very captivating.”
“The live orchestra is great. It perfectly combines Western instruments and Eastern instruments. The melodies are very pleasant,” he added.
Mr. Park was surprised when he first saw Shen Yun’s dynamic backdrop.
Mr. Park said he understood the profound meanings that Shen Yun delivered, which were the traditional Chinese culture and values.
“Only using dances, Shen Yun expressed the traditional values. It’s enchanting, and our theatergoers were mesmerized by it,” he said. “It’s very encouraging to broadcast the Chinese culture in this way.”
Just having watched the performance, Mr. Park said he couldn’t wait to attend the next year’s performance.
‘I Felt I Was Blessed’
Mr. Kim Young-soo, electronic engineering professor at Kyung Hee University, said: “Shen Yun is very beautiful. It made people happy. I felt that I was blessed.”“The colors and illuminations are very impressive. I had never seen the colors of the costumes, backdrops, and stage. They are very unique,” he said. “The live orchestra is also very special. It’s an orchestra, but plays Chinese melodies. I really enjoyed it. The music made me felt very relaxed, comfortable, and happy.”
Mr. Kim said he understood the dances, loved the costumes, and was surprised by the excellent choreography and other designs.
“It was so real when I saw the dancers jump on stage but then enter the backdrop. The feeling is so special, which is very impressive,” he said. “The story-based dances are very interesting.”
“A lot of thoughts and ideas popped into my brain when I was watching the show. I think this is the real inspiration,” he said. “I felt compassion. I was inspired.”
Each Shen Yun performance consists of nearly 20 vignettes, presented through highly-expressive art forms such as classical Chinese dance, original orchestral music performed live, soloists who sing in the bel canto tradition, animated digital backdrops, and more.
‘Shen Yun Is Admirable’
Mr. Nam Kiyoung, the CEO of Uam Construction, expressed his admiration after attending the show.“The female dancers are like heavenly maidens. They danced very elegantly. They were expressive in every detail,” he said. “The male dancers are masculine and valiant.”
“The coordination of Shen Yun is outstanding!” he said. “You can see it from how the backdrop played exactly the milliseconds it took when the dancers interacted with it.”
“The music is very beautiful and entertaining. It sounds like classical court music, which I feel pretty well matches our Korean style,” he said with a big smile.
Mr. Nam said all his emotions were satisfied by Shen Yun, and even his brain was enriched by it.
“I learned the deep meanings of Chinese traditional culture. These are very cherished values for all us human beings,” he said. “Shen Yun is admirable.”
For 5,000 years China’s civilization was built on values and virtues from the spiritual teachings of Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism, virtues like loyalty, propriety, wisdom, justice, and benevolence—values that are universal and shared the world over.
