MILWAUKEE, Wis.—Christa Lee Brynwood was very much “overwhelmed” by Shen Yun Performing Art’s depiction of China before communism after she watched the show on Feb. 22 at the Miller High Life Theatre, “I’m overwhelmed, really, with the beauty. ... I hope that China will once again blossom like the lotus.”
Ms. Brynwood said that she has been “waiting since the show started in 2006 to see this show.”
“I think it’s really good to preserve [traditional Chinese] culture and remember where you came from,” she said.
In addition to bringing back a lost culture, Shen Yun also exposes the ongoing persecution of Falun Gong in China. “I pray for China all the time. I pray for the Chinese people. I’ve been praying for years. [The persecution] just breaks my heart, and I just pray all the best for restoration, and I think it’s coming very soon.” she said.
Speaking about the Shen Yun artists, Ms. Brynwood said, “You are beautiful, elite artists and dancers, and it was just a joy [to watch]. I wish I could just shake your hands and thank you for sharing your beautiful style of dance and your culture.”
