PHOENIX—Greg Crabtree’s daughter Rosie has been learning violin for three years and attending Shen Yun Performing Arts which inspires the young musician for just as long.
“This is our third year coming, and always got great seats, and it’s always been a great show. It’s always entertaining and my daughter loves it just as much as I do,” said Mr. Crabtree, a business owner, seeing the performance at Symphony Hall on March 8.
“I enjoy the music the most. That’s why we get up close so we can watch,” he said. “I enjoy the music the most. Being able to see it, and hear it, and feel it.
Shen Yun’s orchestra is unique in that it combines ancient Chinese instruments with a classical Western orchestra, and this unique ensemble performs all original works to accompany the dances, using the grandeur of an orchestra to bring to life ancient Chinese melodies.
Mr. Crabtree said it must be difficult to pull off what the artists did and that they did it to perfection and with perfect coordination was just fascinating.
“Everyone’s impressive. That’s why we keep coming back,” he said.
“So it should be educational, enlightening, see a different perspective than what typical kids see or adults see. So it’s good to hear some history [and] see some history. It’s fun,” he said. “It’s good to see all the history come to fruition and here we are.”
“Thank you for all your dedication, and hard work, and perseverance. It’s a lifelong career, I would say, and dedication to an art form that it never goes away. It’s in your heart. And I appreciate you bringing it to Phoenix, Arizona,” he said.
Rosie agreed and commented that they should return again.
“They do an amazing job,” she said. “I think that we should be coming here every year because of how good they are. And they should be keeping up and follow the dreams.”
