Shen Yun Zuo Pin (Shen Yun Creations), the official streaming platform of Shen Yun Performing Arts, recently launched an audio streaming section, making their orchestral recordings available online.
It was welcome news for many fans: Shen Yun’s music is so popular that recordings of the performance soundtracks were made in response to high demand, and concert tours of the Shen Yun Symphony Orchestra began in 2012 after years of demand.
In addition to original works, Shen Yun Zuo Pin features many other recordings by Shen Yun musicians, including concertos and chamber music.
- Bruch’s Scottish Fantasy featuring violin soloist David Ma
- Dvorak’s Cello Concerto in B minor featuring cello soloist Yu-Chien Yuan

What Is Shen Yun?
New York-based Shen Yun was formed in 2006, and with its mission to revive traditional Chinese culture, it quickly became the world’s premier classical Chinese dance company. In addition to reviving this ancient art in its most authentic form, Shen Yun is known for its all-new productions every season, which include a completely new set of choreography and compositions.
All the music is written by in-house composers and performed live by an orchestra that tours with each dance company.
The music is known for its East-West blend: a Western classical orchestra performs ancient Chinese melodies, and instruments like the two-stringed erhu and plucked pipa play alongside cellos and violins.
Shen Yun now has eight touring groups, each with their own accompanying orchestra. When the dance groups are off-season, occasionally, the best musicians of the eight groups will tour as the Shen Yun Symphony Orchestra, featuring about 100 musicians who perform Western classics as well as Shen Yun originals in venues like Carnegie Hall and Boston Symphony Hall.
