MANCHESTER, UK—Audience members at the Palace Theatre said how much they enjoyed Shen Yun Performing Arts on Jan. 19. Eeman Aamir and Ghazn Khan, both doctors, resonated with Shen Yun’s all-new production for 2025.

“It was amazing! Enjoyed every part of it. Every bit!” said Dr. Aamir.

Dr. Khan said, “I enjoyed the stories. I think that’s what struck out to us the most. There’s lots of stories, you know.” He said he especially enjoyed a dance which referenced golden, celestial peacocks.

“It was very nice. A lot of culture and tradition and we relate to it. And very colorful,” he said.

“The storyline was perfect. You could actually see and actually understand what was going on, even without words. It was just amazing.,” Dr. Aamir said. “I like the Chinese traditional dance of the men and the women. It was so impressive.”

New York-based Shen Yun revived traditional Chinese culture before communism. The ancient Chinese valued harmony between heaven, earth, and humankind, as well as spiritual self-betterment.

Dr. Khan said, “I think it was interesting to see people come from different backgrounds. I think it’s important just to be tolerant and kind. That’s the thing that related to me most, just kindness and compassion.”

For Dr. Aamir, her understanding of China’s ancient culture expanded. “I didn’t really know anything about it, but now, after seeing the show, it’s quite interesting,” she said.

Dr. Khan noted the spiritual and divine elements in the performance. “I think ultimately it’s all about just being kind and compassionate to each other. Respecting each other, that’s what’s most important,” he said.

Shen Yun means “the beauty of divine beings dancing,” according to the emcees of the performance. The dancers on stage are moving as if dancing from the heavens, said  Dr. Aamir, and she enjoyed that.

Shen Yun’s patented 3D backdrop interacts with the performers, another aspect most audience members highlight as one they enjoyed. “That was amazing! I was actually like: Wow! The timings! And it was so perfect,” Dr. Aamir said.

“That’s very cool. It’s quite nice to see on the screen. And then they come into the stage,” Dr. Khan said.

The doctors said they will take home some things to think about.

“They are very impressive—the dancers, you know,” Dr. Khan said. “[They are] very inspiring and fantastic and show dedication to the craft.”

Dr. Aamir said, “[Shen Yun Performing] Arts is amazing.”
