PHILADELPHIA—Paul Baumbach, Delaware state Representative for the 23rd District, was uplifted by Shen Yun Performing Arts at the Miller Theatre on the evening of April 13.
“It gives you warmth inside to watch it … it was very uplifting,” he said.
“When you have uplifting experiences like the Shen Yun performance, I think it helps you remember that there is so much good in life,” he added, “it’s important to find those things that feed your soul and that uplift you … especially in these days.”
Based in New York, Shen Yun Performing Arts is the world’s premier classical Chinese dance company. Along with folk dances and solo performances, the production depicts story-based pieces that tell tales from ancient times to the modern day.
China was once known as “The Land of the Divine” and Shen Yun presents this culture by drawing upon the Middle Kingdom’s Buddhist and Daoist philosophies. As such, the performance often includes spiritually uplifting messages, according to the company’s website.
“Looking to the divine, seeing the divine in yourself, being true to yourself, and assisting others is very critical,” he said, “gives us hope that our planet has hope to keep rising above the challenges we face.”“Those performers were able to deliver an evening of absolute joy to a packed house of the audience who came to be uplifted,” he added, “and I think we all were.”
“I am in awe of the dedication, the athleticism, the skill that comes from a lifetime of study and devotion and dedication, it is tremendous to watch—just plain awe-inspiring.”“Truly, it’s an experience that I haven’t had similar experiences to before, so I think that it’s just very well worth coming to a Shen Yun performance!”
