HAMBURG, Germany—“I am most impressed because Shen Yun showed me a true picture of China, as well as the greatest treasure that country and culture has to offer,” said Mr. Uwe Lugasch.
Mr. Lugasch is a business consultant who resides in Hamburg, but travels throughout Germany. He found it a privilege to see Shen Yun perform at the Hamburg Theater am Grossmarkt on Sunday afternoon of April 10.
“Shen Yun cannot be seen in China today, where traditional culture has been nearly lost. Yet Shen Yun—a non-profit organization—has become an international phenomenon, bringing the wonders of ancient Chinese culture to millions across the globe,” says Shen Yun on its website.
“It makes me extremely happy that this especially precious and valuable knowledge is brought to the world and that the true face of China is being kept alive,” Mr. Lugasch said.
He decided to share something: “I’ve always kept a distance from anything Chinese, and now at the age of 57, I’ve had the privilege to change my mind about that country. The picture that had developed over decades was gone in just a few hours. This excites me.”
Mr. Lugasch believes the spirituality that exists in China finally came to the forefront because of Shen Yun performers. “Despite difficulties, this kind of work can only be presented by those who cherish higher ideals.”
The higher ideals brought to life by Shen Yun performers includes “emotional and visual awareness of them as a group and not just the individual. It tells us that selfishness and egoism will be discarded in the future,” Mr. Lugasch said.
New Sound of an Orchestra
“A most interesting thought occurred to me,” said Mr. Lugasch. “The music was otherworldly because it combined Eastern and Western traditions. It brought to our ears a completely new acoustic pattern. This combination tells us that only when we combine our cultures can we recognize the true true wealth of a country---actually, this will bring together all humans worldwide.”
“Shen Yun Symphony Orchestra blends the spirit of Chinese music with the power of a Western orchestra … Never before have the exquisite beauty of Chinese melodies and the grandeur of a Western symphony been so seamlessly combined,” according to Shen Yun’s website.
Mr. Lugasch shared that in his mind, “the principle of hope is the strongest, touching element of the entire choreography. In the end, hope is given to us by something higher than we are, and it’s essential for carrying us over the threshold to the other side.”
He will tell all his friends and acquaintances that they must see the Shen Yun performance “because it brings to life principled values and will touch their hearts.” This performance was one of the best shows he had the privilege to see.
