WASHINGTON, D.C.—As audience members around the world attest, Shen Yun Performing Arts is a performance that everyone can enjoy regardless of background or nationality. At the nation’s capital, The Kennedy Center Opera House welcomed Shen Yun and its audience members.

Congressman Tom Tiffany shared his delight in experiencing Shen Yun.

I had the great privilege tonight to see Shen Yun at the John F. Kennedy Center and it was mesmerizing. It was beautiful and it says so much about what a beautiful culture the Chinese culture is going back 5,000 years. So, it was a great privilege to be able to see the show,” said Rep. Tiffany.
Shen Yun is based in New York and since its inception in 2006, it has been dedicated to renewing Chinese culture and sharing it with the world.
This brings light and spirituality to the Chinese people and to the world.

“I understand now why they seek to spread Shen Yun around our country and around the world. Because it speaks to the beauty of the Chinese culture rather than what we see from the Chinese Communist Party, which brings darkness. And this brings light and spirituality to the Chinese people and to the world,” shared Rep. Tiffany.

Due to Shen Yun’s mission to show China before communism, Shen Yun is, unfortunately, unable to perform in China.

Rep. Tiffany expressed his wish for the people of China also to enjoy Shen Yun.

“It would be good if the Communist Chinese government showed the beauty of Shen Yun to their people. I think Chinese people would be so much happier,” he said.

The stories that Shen Yun portrays using classical Chinese dance and music are from Chinese history and ancient myths and legends. Each story is filled with traditional morals and hope.

“I think the stories are what make the show [and] highlight the beauty of the culture, and it’s going back over centuries to bring that back to the modern world and showing what beauty there is in the Chinese culture,” said Rep. Tiffany.

Shen Yun is made up of many components including the digitally animated backdrop, the singers, and the handmade costumes. Rep. Tiffany shared his affirmation for the artists in the performance.
“The performances were terrific—from the orchestra to the dancers to the soloists. It was terrific,” he said.
