Audiences in Basel, Switzerland, are eagerly awaiting the return of Shen Yun Performing Arts from Feb. 14 through Feb. 16 at the Musical Theater Basel.
Shen Yun has thrilled theatergoers the world over, including in Basel audiences in past years.

Last year, Bo Katzman, a musician and singer, said, “I felt entertained from the first second to the last. I was also surprised at the amount of emotion that comes across here. You can feel the passion in every person, you can feel the inner commitment.”
He said he was impressed by the “wonderful mix” in the orchestra. Shen Yun features a life orchestra that has both Eastern and Western instruments. He also found it remarkable that the music was composed specifically for each dance.
Hans Egli, a member of the Zurich Cantonal Council, said in 2024, “If you don’t go along with the system and question it, you’re basically half an enemy of the state.” He added that it was important to raise awareness of the Chinese Communist Party’s crimes.
“That alone makes it worth training and being on stage to show this performance,” he said.
At Shen Yun’s performance in 2022, best-selling author Iris Galey said, “I am so grateful that we can always reconcile in humanity through art.”
Resonating with the strong message of hope, she said, “You absolutely must see this in this day and age.”

Shen Yun presents singers in the bel canto style who present songs with positive, moral messages.
“The song text was very, very inspiring, very beautiful. Insofar that I could see myself very much in it, for example, that the earthly thoughts block the access to the divine,” Mr. Schneuwly said.
“That was very appropriate because I always notice that this thinking often prevents us from simply going into the heart and becoming more connected with each other and the divine.”

Former dancer and now a sports manager, Andreas Wolner-Hanssen, praised the dancers’ training in performing the dances when he attended Shen Yun in 2020.
“I was fascinated to see the precision, exactness of the performers. It was everything the same and so concise. The performance delivers an insight into the story of Chinese art and classical music as I have not seen before,” he said.
“Given the inclusion of exotic instruments, the outcome was beautiful music. One could savor the music, close ones eyes, and achieve a meditating posture. Amazing music,” he said.
“I closed my eyes on and off, let the music sink in, and meditated, forgetting my surroundings—the audience—and concentrated only on the performance.”
