RALEIGH, N.C.—Herbert Dittmar, former managing director for Bayer AG, in Malaysia, was in attendance with his wife and mother for Shen Yun Performing Arts in Raleigh.
“The artistic performance is very good,” said Mr. Dittmar.
“It is beautiful,” added Mrs. Dittmar, at the Jan. 11 performance at the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts.
“The show is beautiful. The costumes are fantastic. The scenery is very, very special,” she said.
“Through the universal language of music and dance, Shen Yun weaves a wondrous tapestry of heavenly realms, ancient legends, and modern heroic tales, taking you on a journey through 5,000 years of Chinese culture,” reads Shen Yun’s website. “Its stunning beauty and tremendous energy leave audiences uplifted and inspired.”
That energy was not lost upon Mrs. Dittmar, who was drawn in by Shen Yun’s digital backdrop. “I love the animation’s scenery, and it just flows so well into the real person, into the dancer that’s coming behind the scenery. It’s very well done,” she said.
Shen Yun’s animated backdrop uses state-of-the-art technology to “extend the stage and transports the audience to a world where heaven and earth are one,” according to the Shen Yun website.
One of Shen Yun’s missions it to revive a culture once nearly lost. Through 60 years of communist rule, classical traditions in the arts, music, and spirituality were nearly destroyed in China.
This mission resonated with the couple.
“It’s fantastic that they are able to keep the traditions, which is beautiful. It is something that you see is getting lost in a lot of countries,” said Mrs. Dittmar. “So its very good to see that traditions have been kept and will not be lost.”
