RIVERSIDE, Calif.—Valerie Valdez creates art from leather and wood. Seeing Shen Yun Performing Arts was a wonderful experience for her as she shared her belief that there is a higher power behind the performance.
“I think definitely there’s a message there that in all of that work and all of that dedication, there’s a divine artist behind the masterpiece that was performed today. I think it brings people toward a higher good, a higher perfection that we’re all called to. And you can see that in the perfection of the performance,” said Ms. Valdez, an artist.
Shen Yun is based in New York, and its mission is to revive 5,000 years of Chinese civilization.Even though Shen Yun presented traditional Chinese beliefs, Ms. Valdez saw many similarities in Shen Yun with her Catholic faith.
“My belief is Catholic. But you can see the fullness of the truth that we’re all called to a divine perfection. We’re all called to our divine creator. And to a higher good. And that’s what we were created for. So, expressing that in artistic form is a beautiful gift. And a beautiful message,” she said.
“I would recommend this show to others. I think it’s a beautiful message. A beautiful performance of artistic perfection and discipline. I think that’s important to our world today. Where we do a lot of things haphazardly or incomplete. ... These artists show that we can put the fullness of our potential into our work and bring out the greatest beauty. So, it’s a wonderful gift to the world,” she said.
