NEW YORK—“Excellent, beautiful, and it really shows the beauty and the inner beauty of traditional Chinese dancing, music, and culture. We’re really enjoying it.”

Artist Susan Levine enjoyed Shen Yun Performing Arts at Lincoln Center’s David H. Koch Theater with her mother Ann Bruno.

Ms. Levine said the April 24 performance was an amazing experience. “Everything is so eloquently done with the technical and the inspirational movements of the artists and the costuming,” she said.

New York-based Shen Yun travels around the world with the mission of reviving the ancient, divinely-inspired, 5,000-year-old Chinese culture, which was nearly lost.

“A Shen Yun performance features the world’s foremost classically trained dancers, a unique orchestra blending East and West, and dazzling animated backdrops—together creating one spectacular performance,” according to the company’s website.

Ms. Levine said she draws and paints, and that she was inspired by the performance.

Ms. Bruno said she loved the performance.

Shen Yun’s dance pieces, besides drawing on a variety of myths and legends, show some of the 55 officially recognized ethnicities of China through ethnic and folk dance.

Ms. Levine appreciated the diversity. “It’s so interesting, all the different provinces of China and how they bring out all the different areas of the Chinese people, it’s just beautiful,” she said. “We really love it.”
