Shen Yun Performing Arts will grace the stage in Arizona with 14 shows from Feb. 11 to Feb. 22, 2023. In anticipation for this event, a number of public officials from the Tucson and Phoenix areas sent proclamations and congratulatory letters to Shen Yun. The letters resonate with Shen Yun’s mission to revive traditions, and welcome Shen Yun to Arizona.
Initiated by Supervisor Adelita Grijalva, the proclamation by all members of the Pima County Board of Supervisors recognizes and proclaims the day of Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2023 to be the “16th year of Shen Yun Performing Arts in Arizona.”
The proclamation states that “For thousands of years, Buddhist, Daoist, and Confucian teachings were at the heart of Chinese society, forming a strong moral foundation which ensures the longevity of the Chinese nation; however this tradition is almost destroyed in today’s China under the communist rule.”
“In ancient China, artists believed that to create true art, one must cultivate inner purity. Shen Yun artists continue this tradition by practicing Falun Dafa. Alongside their rigorous training, the artists meditate and require of themselves self-discipline and selflessness. This is one reason why audiences feel the energy of pure beauty radiating from the stage in the Shen Yun shows.”
,“Through classical Chinese dance, live music, and digital backdrops, Shen Yun takes the audience on a journey of 5,000 years from ancient to modern-day China. It depicts the resilience of a divinely bestowed culture and inspires the audience with traditional values.”
Clint Hickman, representing Maricopa County Board of Supervisors, praised Jan. 31, 2023 as “A day of recognition for the Shen Yun Performing Arts.”
The proclamation points out that “Shen Yun Performing Arts was established by a group of Chinese artists in 2006 in New York; Shen Yun’s mission is to revive a culture that was once almost lost through dance and music.”
“China’s ancient name, ‘The Land of Divine’ tells of a civilization bestowed by the divine. Its music, medicine, calligraphy, painting, clothing, the culinary arts, literature, architecture, and much more manifests, at its highest levels, the connection between man and heaven.”
“China’s history is filled with tales of courage and sacrifice, integrity and loyalty, compassion and virtue. Shen Yun artists bring these stories to life on stage, displaying the intangible spirits and essence of a culture for the people around the world.”
Kyrsten Sinema, U.S. Senator, said in a congratulatory letter, “Congratulations on your nearly two decades of global success, and recent announcement of your 2023 World Tour. Year after year, Shen Yun continues to inspire millions, showcasing China’s rich cultural traditions and bridging historical gaps through stirring performance. We welcome you back to Arizona for a successful 16th season in our community, and look forward to hosting 13 Shen Yun performances this February.”
Shen Yun will perform three shows at the Tucson Linda Ronstadt Music Hall on Feb. 11 and 12, then five more shows at the Ikeda Theater in Mesa, Arizona, from Feb. 14 to 17, then six more shows at the Orpheum Theatre in Phoenix, Arizona from Feb. 18 to 22.
