OXFORD, UK—Shen Yun Performing Arts performed its all-new production at the New Theatre in Oxford to the delight of the audience.

George Middleton, an archaeologist, said the performance was “fantastic. Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. Especially the way they use the screen at the back. The backdrop and the dancers jump down. It’s very, very good.”

Shen Yun’s patented 3D backdrop interacts with the performers who jump and fly in and out of the screen, to the amazement of many in the audience.

Jan Burton, a retired transcriber of the BBC Caversham, said, “Oh, it’s just Wonderful. The way it’s all done. And the hidden things, you know.”

Although a different type of dance from Western ballet, Ms. Burton said she enjoyed classical Chinese dance. “Everything about it is wonderful,” she said.

Mr. Middleton said, “Everything is so precise. Precise, precise. ... Well coordinated.”

“A lot of energy involved and concentration, I think, to get it so precise,” he added.

Mr. Middleton said he also enjoyed the singers, especially the tenor, who performed in bel canto style in Mandarin.
“When the tenor came on and sang, and we saw the lyrics at the back. I could understand that. In modern times, people are losing their souls to money,” he said.

Roger Kemp, a landlord, said, “Very spectacular. I particularly like when [the performers] disappeared into the clouds, then they came back. How they do that? I don’t know.”

While Shen Yun performs around the world, it is unable to perform in China.

He said, “I like China. We’ve been to China. I hope they do allow it in China.”

Shen Yun’s mission is to revive traditional Chinese culture before communism. Shen Yun is banned in China.
Mr. Kemp took note of the beautiful set on the backdrops and the way they show the beauty of the Divine.

“Lovely. I like the backgrounds,” he said. “I think it’s very good. I’m very pleased.”

Shen Yun promotes traditional, universal values in its performances.

“I think it’s very important. I’m surprised China itself doesn’t realize that. But yes, I think [Shen Yun promoting traditional values] is marvelous.”

Mr. Kemp personally resonated with the beauty of nature in Shen Yun. “Having been to China and been around the gardens. I mean, it’s very similar to the atmosphere you have in the gardens. Isn’t it? Very peaceful. ... I’ve seen the Chinese and Japanese gardens. They’re similar.”

To the performers, Mr. Kemp had words of praise.

“Well done. I think the dancing is fantastic, and [I’m] very pleased with it,” he said.
