Lin Hsien-wen, chair of the board of directors of a biotechnology company, was one of the performance’s audience members.
“Shen Yun combines modern technology and traditional culture, which is really great,” Mr. Lin said.
Mr. Lin said people have been staying indoors for the last two years but it is now post-pandemic.
“Shen Yun’s coming to Taiwan can enrich and nourish the hearts and souls of the Taiwanese people,” he said.
‘Feel 10 Years Younger’
The energy of Shen Yun also struck a chord with former Tainan City Good Samaritan representative Chang Chiung-wen, who is 78 years old this year. This was her first time seeing Shen Yun.“I feel 10 years younger after watching Shen Yun,” Ms. Chang said.
She encouraged everyone to, “make sure you come to see Shen Yun, it’s really worth it.”
Jewelry designer Lin Pao-hua, who is also chairwoman of Paolipao Jewelry Ltd., Co., said that she had seen Shen Yun a number of times before. Due to the pandemic, Shen Yun hasn’t been to Taiwan for three years and she has eagerly awaited its return.
“I think the pandemic has locked people in for more than two years, it’s time to step out to enjoy Shen Yun’s dance and music, which presents such positive and beneficial energy to human beings,” Ms. Lin said.
“With Shen Yun touring Taiwan like this, I believe the pandemic can be behind us soon,” she added.
‘Very Beautiful’
Wang Chia-chin, deputy general manager of the Tainan branch of the King Full Herd company, watched Shen Yun with his 97-year-old mother and his older sister.Mr. Wang said that he originally considered canceling the trip, as his mother fell in the bathroom last week. But they decided to make the trip because he wanted his mother to watch the world-class performance.
“It’s very beautiful! I’m very happy to see it,” she said.
Mr. Wang said his mother’s body aches and pains had all gone, and his mother also confirmed, “everything is fine now!”
Mr. Wang reminded everyone to not be afraid of the pandemic.
“Shen Yun’s performances are full of righteous energy and when you’re in its presence, you won’t fall ill,” he said.
Traveling Through Time and Space
Wang Chun-hsiung, the owner of the Humanities Teahouse, has seen Shen Yun several times, and he is very happy that Shen Yun is touring Taiwan again.“The backdrop design is very well done and very lifelike,” he said. “The technology enabled for a smooth and swift transition from contemporary to the past and back again, giving people the feeling of traveling through time and space.”
Mr. Wang also felt that Shen Yun’s positive energy could dispel pandemic fears.
“Shen Yun’s performance is full of positive energy; for example, when we feel down, it is very beneficial for us to see a performance that’s full of energy,” he said.
Shen Yun recreates the 5,000-year-old Chinese culture, bringing to life on the stage many familiar stories that feature themes of loyalty and filial piety while exploring China’s rich history and myths.
Mr. Wang believes that such a program can enhance people’s ethics and morality in a society.
