SÃO PAULO, Brazil—An IT expert who heads both Europe’s and Latin America’s largest community of digital leaders said watching Shen Yun was both an educational and spiritual experience.

“I learned a lot about the Chinese culture,” said Jorge Cordenonsi after watching Shen Yun Performing Arts at the Teatro Bradesco (Bradesco Theater) on March 21.

“The dance, it awakens the inside, our inner self.

“This touched me on the spiritual side ... of the importance that the dance has in the influence of our mind.”

Mr. Cordenonsi, who holds an impressive list of credentials in the IT sector, such as board member for CIONET—the largest community of Digital Leaders in Europe and Latin America—and Chief Information Officer for GRSA, a company from London based Compass group, and was the recipient of the 2023 Hispanic Technology Executive Council (HITEC) award, said he was particularly impressed with the dancers’ ability to portray the different dynasties from ancient China.

“I saw it in practice. It impressed me a lot,” Mr. Cordenonsi said, adding how impressed he was to learn of the influence of classical Chinese dance on other art forms, even in the West.

Shen Yun dancers are trained in classical Chinese dance, which is unique in that it utilizes physical expression and postures, leaps, flips, spins and other difficult tumbling techniques, and has therefore formed an independent, extensive and independent dance system, according to the company website.

In addition to this, classical Chinese dance was established on the foundation of China’s 5,000 year old culture—which Shen Yun seeks to revive.
Through a series of vignettes, Shen Yun showcases stories from ancient times to the modern day, depicting tales of courage and sacrifice, integrity and loyalty, compassion and virtue.
Such stories, such as the courage of Falun Dafa practitioners holding firm to their faith despite the pressure from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), acted as food for thought for Mr. Cordenonsi.
Mr. Cordenonsi added while Shen Yun touched him spiritually, the performance reminded him of “the connection between mind, spirit and soul.”

“I have a desire to see this performance [again], [so as] to be able to [have] bigger reflections on life,” he said. “Reflection on life—about the importance of being here—of being happy.

“It was a very good performance.”
