Sightings of a man with a gun prompted officials to initiate a lockdown at the Wagner School in the West Oak Lane section of Philadelphia on Friday morning, according to reports.
A student reported seeing a man with a gun on school premises, 6ABC reported. The report came in at 8:30 a.m. local time, prompting the lockdown.
Police could be seen converging on the school and were reportedly searching the school’s classrooms. NBC Philadelphia reported that police were using K-9 units to search the campus.
There have been no reports of injuries at this time. It’s unclear if any gun was found.
Police told the NBC affiliate that the student who saw the person allegedly carrying a gun did the right thing by reporting it. NBC reported that the student told the principal first.
