The city of Rohnert Park is seeking input from residents on the search for a new director of its Department of Public Safety.

Residents are invited to attend a community forum from 6-8 p.m. August 27 in the multi-purpose room of the Community Center at 5401 Snyder Lane.

Public Safety Director Brian Masterson is retiring at the end of the August, and retired Sebastopol police Chief Jeff Weaver was selected as the department’s interim director.

Weaver was with the Sebastopol Police Department for 29 years, 13 of them as police chief.

Rohnert Park has hired former Oakland police Chief Howard Jordan to lead the city’s investigation of complaints that two of its public safety officers stopped vehicles on U.S. Highway 101 in northern Sonoma County to seize marijuana and money from drivers. One of the two officers has resigned.
