SEOUL, South Korea—Tens of thousands of soldiers have been mobilized in South Korea to clear record levels of snowfall. On Monday South Korea was hit by the largest snowstorm to date since 1937. The snow caused traffic jams and bogged down the nations’ airports as blustery winter weather moved across Northeast Asia from China.
The peninsula received 11 inches of snow by Monday night causing dangerous road conditions throughout the entire country. Officials requested citizens stay off the road when possible, and use chains on their cars if travel was necessary.
