U.S. existing home sales ended 2024 on a strong note, offering a promising sign for 2025, according to real estate professionals. Home prices, however, are not expected to drop in the new year.

The latest report from the National Association of Realtors (NAR) indicated that existing homes sales rose by 2.2 percent in December 2024, to an annual rate of 4.24 million, which is the strongest pace since February 2024 with 4.38 million sales. Sales grew by 9.3 percent from December 2023, representing the largest year-over-year gain since June 2021.
