President Donald Trump has revealed that he will be announcing his 2020 presidential run at a rally in Orlando, Florida, on June 18.
Writing on Twitter on May 31, he said he will hold the rally with First Lady Melania Trump, Vice President Mike Pence and his wife Second Lady Karen Pence at the Amway Center, which can seat 20,000 people.
Trump’s announcement to run for a second term will come as no surprise. He has conducted political campaign rallies for many months and has raised money for his campaigns.
Kayleigh McEnany, press secretary for the Trump 2020 campaign, told The Epoch Times in a previous interview that the president, along with highlighting his achievements in the past two years, plans to focus on exposing the alarming trend of Democratic candidates embracing socialism.
“Every single member of the 2020 Democratic field will emerge with the scourge of socialism attached to them. They all want government takeover of health care, of energy, and with the Green New Deal. They want these radical proposals,” she said.
Along with McEnany, Trump Communications Director Tim Murtaugh has described the Democratic field of candidates as “one big socialist organism with 22 heads,” which was later changed to “one big socialist organism with 23 heads” when New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio announced his presidential bid.
As part of his campaign, Sanders is promoting a range of socialist policies like “Medicare for All,” the “Green New Deal,” free college tuition, and the $15 minimum wage. These policies are being endorsed by other Democratic candidates including Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.), Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.), and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.).
McEnany said these socialist policies would “cost our economy tens of trillions of dollars, raise everyone’s taxes, completely explode our debt.”
“Will we let the Democrats take America on a hard left turn and lose all the gains that we’ve fought so hard to make?” Pence asked the audience. “If we lay out a choice between freedom and socialism, the American people will choose freedom every single time.”
These economic models found that the flourishing U.S. economy coupled with the historic advantage for running again as the incumbent president is the main factor that would lead Trump to a successful re-election.
