A man who fired a gun into a crowd outside an Ice Cube concert in San Diego has been shot by police.

Daniel Elizarraras, 22, from Escondido, was told that the show was sold out at around 6:40 p.m. on Sept. 2, after which he got into an argument, according to the San Diego Sheriff’s Homicide Unit.

Elizarraras proceeded to pull out “a silver-plated semi-automatic handgun,” police said, firing several shots into the crowd outside the Del Mar racetrack.

Deputies returned fire, injuring Elizarraras, the sheriff’s office said. He was taken to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla. His condition has been listed as stable by police and he is expected to survive.

No other people were injured and the concert continued.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident.

‘He Shot Him, He Shot Him’

In eyewitness video, two officers can be seen pointing guns at a man and then opening fire. He drops to the ground.

In another video the person filming can be heard saying, “He shot him, he shot him,” while people run away from the gunshots.

WFAN New York sports show host Mike Francesa tweeted that shots had been fired at the track and that it was “crazy.”

Ice Cube was performing as the last part of a summer concert series at the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club racetrack, which is one of the most well-known horse racing tracks in the United States.

Del Mar Thoroughbred Club said in a statement: “As is our special events protocol, substantial law enforcement and private security was on site in anticipation of the event. In light of the circumstances that unfolded involving one individual with a gun, we take consolation in the fact that no patrons, officers or security personnel were injured in the incident.”
