Despite this, what we’re hearing from public officials is that this is the mutation to fear—hide beneath your desk and put your mask on to make sure you don’t spread it to grandma.
The data, however, just doesn’t support this. In South Africa—where the variant originated—scientists have repeatedly said that Omicron appears to be only a mild illness.
In other words, it does seem that Omicron may be more prevalent in terms of people getting infected. But in terms of deaths, the danger is not there—South Africa has repeatedly said this and the WHO and the CDC acknowledge it.
If this is the case, then why all the panic, and why the strengthening of extreme state policies like lockdowns and forced vaccinations—including in New York City where outgoing mayor Bill de Blasio has announced vaccine requirements for employees at private companies.
Across the United States, National Guards are being mobilized, and called into hospitals to handle alleged spikes in cases. If you look at this, some people will say oh you see, the cases are so high, they have to even call in the National Guard. What they won’t tell you is that the reason they have to call in the National Guard is that they contributed to this shortage by firing many unvaccinated nurses and medical workers.
There was a line from author Albert Camus in his book, “Homage to an Exile,” which is making the rounds now, since it’s being seen as relevant to policies on COVID-19. Camus stated, “The welfare of the people in particular has always been the alibi of tyrants, and it provides the further advantage of giving the servants of tyranny a good conscience.”
It’s a great quote, and relevant now. Because you can have government spread tyranny, as we’re seeing right now with governments locking people in their homes, with governments forcing mandates on children masks, with governments forcing people to inject things into their bodies they may not agree with, or they may even violate their religions in doing so, and so on.
They’re forcing people to do this using a narrative on a virus that is not backed by science, by data, or by anything of the sort. Meanwhile, they tell you to trust the science and trust the data.
But what do they mean when they say that? Frankly, it seems like the slogan “follow the science” is not really about trusting science, because actual scientific data does not support these new measures.
The CDC and the WHO, in fact, are showing the opposite in terms of the data—so it looks like there’s a discrepancy in terms of the information they’re using internally to inform their decisions and what they’re actually stating publicly.
