A recent episode of Crossroads—“Fauci Knew about Virus Lab Origin from Secret Teleconference: Jeff Carlson and Hans Mahnke”—explores the COVID lab leak theory and Dr. Anthony Fauci’s denial of it. Fauci began pushing a natural origin theory for the virus. Researchers who had originally released information supporting the lab leak theory realigned their opinions to match what Fauci was saying about natural origins. Newly discovered redacted emails show evidence of this deception and a coverup of the true origin of the virus.

Host Joshua Philipp welcomes Jeff Carlson and Hans Mahnke to discuss the content of recently released emails regarding the natural origin theory and the censorship of narratives stating otherwise. The video begins with a discussion of those emails and the information contained in them. The guests reveal that the emails uncover details of a secret teleconference and the opinions of the scientists involved. This began in 2020 when an article was released about Fauci funding the Wuhan lab where the virus originated. A teleconference was called, and information was released that scientists were 60 to 80 percent sure that the origin of the virus was the Wuhan lab. After this information came out, a new theory was promoted, which was that of a proximal or natural origin. A censorship campaign was also launched to silence anyone who spoke against the natural origin theory. This theory was released the same day as the teleconference. The emails provide details about what the scientists knew about how the virus was engineered. Fauci denied this, even though he had all of this information, and continued with his promotion of the natural origin theory. The lab leak theory was labeled as a “conspiracy theory.” They tried to say that they slowly changed their minds to a natural origin theory over a period of time after more evidence was reviewed. However, the fact that the natural origin theory was fabricated the same day as the teleconference points to the fact that this was not true. Carlson reveals one of the most damning pieces of evidence: Robert Gary, one of the authors of the natural origin paper, stated that it could not have come from a lab because the skeleton of the virus was unknown, and the lab did not have a skeleton on which to create the virus. In one of the redacted emails, Gary wrote that an existing skeleton would not be used but instead a new one would need to be used. This directly contradicts the natural origin theory.

The next segment of the video deals with the attributes of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes the disease COVID-19. When studying the virus, there are elements in it that are not present in any other form of the SARS virus, and these elements make SARS-CoV-2 much more virulent in humans than the previous viruses. This smacks of human manipulation, not something that occurred naturally. It was leaked that a scientist named Peter Dazak received funding from Fauci to do this research on making the virus more infectious in humans. Mahnke reveals that the frightening thing about the information in these emails is how limited the information is. The National Institute of Health has been fighting the release of this information. The emails themselves were not released, but rather transcriptions of them.

The next topic of discussion surrounds the National Institute of Health (NIH) and its efforts to censor the lab leak theory. The host makes an excellent point that there is no legal justification for the information being withheld from the public. Every effort since the release of the lab leak theory has been to push back against it and promote the natural origin theory. Carlson explains that the NIH is using redactions to try and cover up information that was leaked to the public via email. There were things in these emails that should not have been communicated in this way if the authors were really worried about disclosure. They were admonished not to put this information in emails, and now that the information has been released, the NIH is doing its best to cover it up. Carlson goes on to reveal that the teleconference call was prompted by a scientist and researcher in the UK named Jeremy Farrar. Then the emails that followed from the scientists with their notes and opinions were sent to Farrar, who then disseminated the information from the emails and sent it to only Fauci and Francis Collins of the NIH. This shows suspicion and a conflict of interest. When Sen. Rand Paul recently asked Fauci if he spoke to the scientists, he said he did not, which was not true because he did have communication with them through Farrar. Fauci encouraged the media to promote the natural origin theory and he even collaborated with Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook in censoring those with dissenting information. An interesting sideline to this is that former President Donald Trump sued Facebook and other social media sites in 2021 for their interference in keeping information from the public and censorship.

The host then asks his guests if there was any financial gain that could be obtained in all of this. Jeff Carlson explains that there was an increase in grants for several of these scientists. This would indicate a financial motivation. In a new grant program for research on infectious diseases, three of the grants were given to three of the people involved in the teleconference. This points to the fact that monetary rewards play a definite role in this cover-up. The video concludes with the host asking what the next step is and what other information the public needs to know about this. Carlson is the first to respond and states that we need to see all the emails and what they originally said. Mahnke states that he is in agreement that the public should see all of the unredacted emails and get a complete picture of the whole truth.
