We’ve sprung ahead, and now we’re ready for spring to really arrive! Orange County is buzzing with excitement for St. Patrick’s Day parades and events celebrating the new season. From festivals to school musicals, there’s something for everyone to enjoy as we welcome spring.
I had the pleasure of marching in the Warwick St. Patrick’s Day parade on Sunday. Despite the chilly wind, the sun was shining, and my two sons and I had a fantastic time. Thank you to everyone who came out to join in the fun!
Here are some other highlights from the past week.
On Friday evening, I had the distinct pleasure of speaking at the Sojourner Truth Award Ceremony at SUNY Orange—a celebration that truly exemplifies the excellence and dedication of our youth. Students were honored for their outstanding accomplishments across a variety of categories, including academic and athletic achievement, citizenship, perseverance, and community effort.
With more than 400 students and their families in attendance, the event was a testament to the hard work and determination of young individuals from schools throughout Orange County.

It was an inspiring evening, as each award recipient demonstrated exceptional commitment to their education, personal growth, and communities.
I was honored to have the opportunity to congratulate these remarkable 6th- through 12th-grade students, who serve as role models for their peers. Their efforts and achievements reflect the values that make our community strong, and I am grateful to have been part of such a wonderful event.
Another example of exceptional commitment was held last Friday morning when I was honored to spend some time recognizing the true heroes among us—our law enforcement officers—at the Police Chiefs’ Association of Orange County Police Academy graduation.
After 23 weeks of intense training, recruit class 02-24 will now officially put on the badge to answer the call to serve. Their dedication and bravery are truly commendable. I am deeply grateful for all they do, and I am honored to stand in support of their important work. I thank them on behalf of county residents for keeping our communities safe.

I was proud to see our Department of Public Works (DPW) team on the front lines, advocating for the governor and lawmakers to prioritize funding for critical road and bridge repairs.
Each March, more than 600 county and town highway superintendents, public works commissioners, and industry professionals come together at the New York State Capitol in Albany to advocate for the safety and maintenance of our local roads and bridges.
Our dedicated DPW crew works tirelessly to ensure the safety and well-being of our community and will continue to push for safer roads for our county residents and visitors.
Lastly, a shoutout to the members of my finance team for their continued excellence and support. I’m so proud to announce that for the 29th consecutive year, Orange County has been honored with the prestigious Government Finance Officers Association Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting. This distinguished award is a testament to their ongoing commitment to upholding the highest standards in financial transparency and reporting for state and local governments. It reflects the dedication and hard work of the entire Department of Finance, with special recognition for the Accounting Division for their exceptional efforts.
This achievement highlights the county’s steadfast focus on fiscal responsibility and maintaining these high standards year after year.
Enjoy your week, and see you around the county!
