PICO RIVERA, Calif.—Authorities March 13 identified a woman who was killed by a hit-and-run vehicle in Pico Rivera, where she was on a walk with two other women, one of whom was seriously injured.

The crash was reported at 11:22 p.m. Sunday near Rooks and Rose Hills roads, according to Deputy Michael Chen of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

“Three female adults were walking southbound on the curb of Rooks Road approaching Rose Hills Road, when two of them were struck by a vehicle, also traveling southbound on Rooks Road,” a sheriff’s statement said. “The vehicle fled the scene, continuing southbound on Rooks Road toward Rose Hills Road, and out of view.”

Yesenia Sanchez, 36, of Los Angeles died at the scene, the Los Angeles County coroner’s office reported. The hospitalized woman had stable vital signs, authorities said. The third woman was not injured.

The surviving women were not able to provide a vehicle description, Chen said.

Anyone with information on the case was urged to call the sheriff’s Pico Rivera Station at 562-949-2421 or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS.
