Authorities in New York City have launched a search for a man who was seen on surveillance footage violently pushing a woman onto the train tracks in a broad-daylight subway attack in the Bronx.
Video footage released by the New York City Police Department (NYPD) captures the terrifying moment when the 52-year-old unidentified female was tossed over the platform onto the southbound tracks on June 5 at the Westchester and Jackson train station.
The suspect—who is still on the loose—is seen wearing a red backpack, a blue baseball cap, and a white tank top as he approached the woman from behind, grabbed her with both hands, and threw her toward the tracks.
She was taken to Lincoln Hospital where she has been listed in stable condition. The MTA said she suffered cuts to her head, arm, and a broken collar bone.
Police are now looking for her attacker and are offering a $3,500 reward for information leading to the arrest of the assailant.
This latest incident comes after a series of train-related casualties and accidents in New York earlier this year.
In mid-February, 40-year-old Michelle Alyssa Go was intentionally pushed to her death in front of an oncoming Times Square subway train. The suspect was identified as 61-year-old Martial Simon and was charged with second-degree murder in connection with her death.
In another incident that happened in January, a 23-year-old man was critically injured when he was struck by a train in a Brooklyn subway station as he bent over to pick up his backup.
