“Doctor Who” was first broadcast on 5:15 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23, 1963. On Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013, the 50th anniversary special will air. 

For the first time, it will be simultaneously broadcast to viewers all over the world, in at least 75 countries countries including Botswana, Mexico, and Colombia.

The special will star Matt Smith (the eleventh doctor), Jenna Coleman (Clara), David Tennant (the tenth doctor), John Hurt, and others. 

BBC America will dedicate a whole week to “Doctor Who” with marathons and more. 

“Doctor Who” is the longest running and most successful science fiction series. 

The show’s website says that this year, it has an estimated 80 million viewers in 206 countries.
