NEW YORK—City services for job seekers and businesses in the Bronx are now available in one state-of-the-art facility at 400 Fordham Rd., and Webster Avenue, Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Small Business Services Commissioner Robert Walsh announced Monday.

The new location houses both a NYC Business Solutions Center, which provides free services for small businesses, and Workforce1 Career Center, which provides free services for job seekers.

“We need to do all we can to support entrepreneurs as they work to open businesses and create the jobs that will employ New Yorkers on all rungs of the economic ladder,” Bloomberg said in a release. “We know that the Bronx is in particular need of these services and have no doubt that the Bronx community will make excellent use of these new resources.”

Fordham University’s Center for Entrepreneurship will be collaborating with NYC Business Solution Centers at this new location to provide its students, alumni, and local entrepreneurs more help to kick off small businesses, and provide access to curriculum to help small-business owners run their businesses and expand.

Free workshops, career counseling, training opportunities, computer labs, conference rooms, and additional space and equipment will be available to job seekers in the same facility.

Legal assistance, help finding an appropriate lender, help navigating government regulations, and courses in business are available at all NYC Business Solution Centers throughout the city, along with information about accessing funding to train staff, connecting businesses with government incentives, and recruitment services for hiring staff.

Along with the opening of the new 30,000-square-foot facility in the Bronx, new NYC Starter Guides for businesses were also launched, providing entrepreneurs with videos and information on how to meet regulatory requirements.
