He was one of three 2024 GOP hopefuls to speak at the summit, hosted in the historically blue stronghold of Pennsylvania, which he won in 2016.
Supreme Court Win
The U.S. Supreme Court had just the day before struck down affirmative action, and followed the ruling with one striking down the Biden administration’s student debt forgiveness plan, as well as a free speech case ruling in favor of a Christian web designer.“This was a big two days,” Trump said.
“Many presidents never get the opportunity to appoint a Supreme Court justice. I had three. They are gold,” he said, referring to Justices Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett.
“Maybe we’ll get three or four more. Can you imagine?“ he said. ”Let’s have seven or eight or maybe even nine.”
Rally in South Carolina
Trump had rally plans in Pickens, South Carolina, scheduled the next day, and supporters on social media have been commenting on the size of the crowd.Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), who introduced Trump at the event, was met with disapproval from the crowd, with more boos than cheers.
“It took a while to get there folks, but let me tell you what happened,” he said. “I’ve come to like President Trump and he likes himself, and we got that in common. And I’m gonna help him become president of the United States.”
“I was on the front row of his presidency, and I’ve never seen anybody this tough for America. How many of you have heard the phrase, ‘We like Trump policies but we want somebody new’? Have you heard that? Let me tell you that without Donald Trump, there are no Trump policies. He did something nobody else could do. He’s the most pro-life president in my lifetime,” he said.
“My hope is we can bring this party together, because he is our nominee,” Graham said, adding that Democrats would be looking to pack the Supreme Court if they win.
