‘Moesha’ Actress Yvette Wilson Dies at Age 48

Actress Yvette Wilson, best known for her role as Andell Wilkerson in 1990s sitcom “Moesha” and its spinoff “The Parkers,” died at the of age 48 on Thursday after a long battle with cervical cancer, her close friend Jeffrey Pittle confirmed.

“It is with a heavy heart that I can verify that Yvette passed away last evening after a lengthy and hard battle,” said Pittle, who created a website for people to donate money to help Wilson with her medical bills.

“She was a fighter to the end, and her talent, humor, and amazing friendship will be sorely missed.”

Yvette had also experienced kidney failure, kidney transplants, among other health issues.



Born in Los Angeles in 1964, Wilson first entered comedy when she lost a bet and had to perform as a stand-up comedian at a friend’s club. Wilson had also appeared on many comedy films including “House Party 2,” “Friday,” and “Russell Simmons’ Def Comedy Jam.”
