A missing autistic boy whose parents were charged with crimes in connection to his disappearance and presumed murder is still alive, according to a letter recently received by his grandparents.
Joe Clyde Daniels, 5, vanished from his family’s home in Dickson, Tennessee, in April. A widespread search was launched but turned up nothing.
Responding to a letter that Krystal Daniels wrote to her from prison, Joe’s grandmother Belle Daniels told the broadcaster in early October that she believed Krystal Daniels knew where her grandson was.
“If I go see her she better tell me where Baby Joe is,” Belle Daniels said. “I don’t mind helping anybody as long as you’re helping me. If Joseph don’t know where the baby is, she’s got to be the only one that does.”
New Letter
Joe Clyde’s body was never found, and a new letter received by his grandparents claims he’s still alive. The anonymous writer claims that Joe is alive and that his mother arranged to give her child away.
“I believe Krystal got Joe’s clothes, packed them into a bag ... and left Joe on the side of the road,” the anonymous person wrote, saying they believe Joe is alive and living in west Tennessee, possibly in Jackson.
“If we could get Krystal to confess what really happened ... with this case. I know it’s a bizarre case,” the letter reads. The writer names multiple people allegedly involved, but those names have been redacted by news agencies since some of the people haven’t been named by authorities.
Investigators previously said that Krystal Daniels was frustrated with raising a child with autism.
Jake Lockert, the attorney for Joseph Daniels, confirmed that the grandparents had received the letter and said they turned it over to investigators.
