First Lady Melania Trump called out media outlets on Wednesday, May 30, for wildly speculating over the reason for her nearly three-week absence from the public.

Melania’s last public appearance was back on May 10, where she joined President Donald Trump to welcome three Americans who were released from a North Korea detention center.

In a tweet, she revealed how she was doing and reiterated that she was still “working hard.”

“I see the media is working overtime speculating where I am & what I’m doing,” Melania tweeted on May, 30. “Rest assured, I’m here at the White House w my family, feeling great, & working hard on behalf of children & the American people!”

On May 14, the White House announced that the first lady had been sent to the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center to undergo an embolization procedure to treat a benign kidney condition.

“The procedure was successful, and there were no complications,” the first lady’s communications director, Stephanie Grisham, said in a statement. “The first lady looks forward to a full recovery so she can continue her work on behalf of children everywhere.”

Melania’s absence from recent public events could be a sign that she still has not fully recovered from the surgery.

Despite missing out on appearances from the public eye, the first lady still managed to attend other internal meetings.

“[Melania Trump was] involved in several internal meetings with staff all last week” and is “planning events such as the congressional picnic and 4th of July,” Grisham told Fox News.

Grisham still had no word on when or what Melania’s next public event would be.

Earlier in May, the first lady unveiled her official platform from the White House’s Rose Garden on May 7, focusing on the welfare of children.

The unveiling is significant as it marked the first time Melania has officially laid out her formal policy goals as the first lady. Previously she had worked on combating a range of issues such as cyberbullying, neonatal opioid effects, social inclusion, and internet safety.

Her campaign, dubbed “Be Best,” will help to combat issues facing children today and will include three main pillars centered on well-being, social media use, and opioid abuse.

“Together, I believe we should strive to provide kids with the tools they need to cultivate their social and emotional health,” Melania Trump said at the event. “Most importantly, I will continue to travel and speak to children directly to speak about issues they face.”

Her campaign will work to promote the people, organizations, and programs that are helping children overcome these issues.
