LOS ANGELES—A 20-year-old Los Angeles man was killed after his dirt bike collided with a car that left the scene in the Vermont Square neighborhood, authorities said Oct. 17.

The crash occurred around 3 p.m. Oct. 16 at 54th and Cimarron streets, according to a release from the Los Angeles Police Department’s South Traffic Division.

The man was riding his dirt bike eastbound on 54th Street behind a dark-colored sedan when the car’s driver made an unsafe movement that caused the dirt bike rider to crash into the rear of the car, police said. The rider was ejected from the dirt bike and struck the pavement and the car’s driver drove away from the scene.

Paramedics took the injured rider to California Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Drivers involved in a collision should pull over and stop, call 911, and remain at the scene to identify themselves, police said.

A $50,000 reward is available to people who provide information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of hit-and-run offenders.

Anyone with information on this case was urged to call Detective Maricela Sasaki or Officer Gerald Chavarria at the South Traffic Division at 323-421- 2500. Anonymous tips can be phoned into Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
