VISTA, Calif.—A motorist crashed his sedan into a utility pole and died, sheriff’s officials said May 14.
The crash happened at about 11:25 p.m. Saturday on North Melrose Drive near the intersection with Tatum Street, according to Deputy Jason Malson of the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.
A black Mercedes sedan driving southbound on Melrose veered off the west side of the roadway for unknown reasons and crashed into a utility pole, the deputy said. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
It was unknown whether drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash, Malson said.
The department’s Vista Traffic Division was handling the investigation.
