We all know that dogs and children have a lot in common. They both get really excited about simple things that adults can be jaded about. They tend to act first and think later.
And dogs and children both like to think of themselves as angels who would never do anything wrong even when there’s evidence to the contrary!
Megan Wade lives in Marietta, Georgia, just outside Atlanta, and has a beautiful Siberian Husky named Azlan. An animal lover who works at the Georgia Aquarium, Wade takes care of pinnipeds, the family that includes seals, walruses, and sea lions.
She is also incredibly devoted to Azlan, sharing a passion that many husky owners have for these beautiful but sometimes very contrary and headstrong dogs.
It all started when Wade was sitting on the bed and realized that she was missing one of her tennis shoes. She was pretty sure she hadn’t left it anywhere, and neither had her husband. There was only one possible culprit—her mischievous furry friend Azlan.
She called the dog into her room and confronted him. “Azlan, I know you stole my shoe,” she calmly states, as the husky stands next to the lone shoe in her bedroom. “Go pick it up and bring it back,” she asks.
No sooner has she made the request does the dog start to whine and complain. If he were a child, he would definitely be denying having had anything to do with it. You can almost hear him saying, “But mom! It wasn’t me, I swear.”
The howling continues, but Wade is a good, tough mom and won’t let him get away with it. “Go get it!” she repeats with a tone in her voice that says “don’t mess with me.” While Azlan puts up a bit more resistance, he finally decides to avoid any more trouble and goes to return the stolen shoe.
Several seconds later, he comes trotting back into the room with the shoe in his mouth, clearly having decided that losing on out treats or whatever good thing might get taken away from him just wasn’t worth it. Finally, he drops the shoe in front of Wade and goes in for a cuddle.
“Thank you very much. Don’t steal it again! Thank you,” Wade says to the very relieved dog, who’s clearly trying to be as cute as possible to get back in his mom’s good graces.
Azlan’s antics clearly won the hearts of lots of people on the internet, as his video was chosen by Ellen Nation for reposting. Fellow husky owners were especially sympathetic as they have to contend with these especially intelligent and headstrong dogs, which can get up to serious mischief if they’re not given enough playtime.
As commenter Jeni Kelly said, “Siberians are just like human children! They try to get out of trouble then make it ok by doing the right! Good job Azlan!” Another commenter, Jenny Thompson, wrote, “I love the back talk of a Husky so much!”
Though he didn’t win the competition, this special dog definitely won the hearts of husky owners across the internet for his shoe antics and sweet nature!
