Incidents of animal cruelty have recently been on the rise and the number of animal abuse cases around the world has become alarming. Some people need to mend their ways by stopping these horrendous acts by finding compassion in their hearts and being more responsible for their pets.
In a recent incident, two scared puppies were found abandoned outside a rescue center tied to a fence with razor wires in Jackson, Mississippi.
She further added: “It is a holiday, all vets are full with boarding, and we owe all our vets tons. Looks like they tied them to our gate at 9:18 last night and a police officer drove by while they were doing it.”
She then freed the suffering animals and admitted them to the Animal Rescue Fund of Mississippi. The pups were rushed to the emergency veterinary care.
Surveillance cameras have captured the pups being tied up as a police car drove past, but the person involved hasn’t been identified. ARF has also raised over US$1,000 for the pups’ medical care.
However, the recent sad story of “puppy doe” reminds us that cruelty to animals will not be tolerated, and if abusers are caught, they stand to serve a lengthy jail sentence. The pit-bull mix puppy was found abandoned in a playground in 2013 in Quincy, Massachusetts, starving, and had suffered horrific abuse. She had sustained a fractured skull and spine, a stab wound to one eye, and a split tongue. In fact, her injuries were so severe she couldn’t be saved and had to be euthanized.
“Today was a historic day for animal welfare in Massachusetts,” said Mary Nee, president of Animal Rescue League of Boston. “With the conviction and sentencing of Radoslaw Czerkawski, it has been demonstrated that people who commit animal cruelty, and in this case extreme cruelty, will be held accountable. Ironically, Puppy Doe’s short and tragic life was the impetus for stronger laws protecting all animals in the Commonwealth—and there’s still work to do.”
He has also been banned from owning or coming close to any animal.
