This abused and abandoned dog was dying; she had lost all hope. Her body was just skin and bones, and her spirit had been broken. But one group gave her enough strength to go on, and her recovery is nothing short of amazing.
This is the story of a brave dog that was literally snatched away from imminent death by a group of concerned animal lovers in 2014. It highlights the value of being compassionate to all, for this pitiable yet very lucky dog was able to gain a new lease on life in what looked to be her final hour. Still, it also brings to light the severity of animal abuse.
Angel, as she was named, was rescued in 2015 after starving, for who knows how long, on the streets of Palmdale, California. It’s not known how she ended up there as a stray; perhaps she was abandoned.
However, the rescuers made a vow not to give up on her, and slowly, they began to feed her and get her to sit and stand. Volunteers also came to visit and encourage her. They were only able to feed the dog a little bit at first. Too much food could have been fatal with Angel being in such a shocking condition.
She was able to gain nearly 4 pounds (approx. 2 kg) within two weeks, a major milestone. Gradually, Angel gained strength with a lot of care and encouragement and was finally able to walk and eat on her own. As her body grew stronger, so did her spirit.
Under such tender loving care, Angel was soon able to run and play just like any other dog and beg for special treatment with those adorable puppy dog eyes. Thankfully, Angel found a forever home with a loving family and a nice backyard that she could run and play in.
Here’s Angel again, in 2019. Looking at such a happy face, it’s hard to tell she had endured so much trauma earlier on in her life. It’s a great relief that there are kind people in the world. To realize that she was once emaciated to the extreme and is now looking like a healthy, happy dog—that’s just an incredible transformation.
The post further read: “I can’t tell you how happy it made me to see her and her beautiful smile. She’s a true miracle and a testament to what our village can do when we team up together!! (Don’t worry, they were just at the vet for some routine checkup stuff.”
How does a person measure success in life? According to some, success equals how much of a positive influence one has made on the lives of others. Without a doubt, those who helped Angel get back on all four paws have done a mighty job and should be proud of themselves.
