A rabbit born with only three legs is unusual, but a rabbit with only three legs, no ears, and deafness in the bargain has to be one special bunny.
Rodajia Welch, 22, knew she had to do something to help this poor rabbit. Her previous owner was old and sick, and was unable to look after her litter of rabbits.
Welch decided to make different sets of ears for the bunny she named Mimi, short for Kemonomimi, meaning “animal ears.”
“I got super excited and decided to make her her own pair of bunny ears,” said Welch.
“She only wears the ears after I’ve just made them for pictures, or when she’s sitting with me.
“She lets me put them on her but for safety reasons I don’t tie them in a knot so if she wanted to, she could just knock them off pretty easy,” she said.
While the rest of the bunnies have now left Welch’s care, Mimi has become a permanent fixture. She now has a friend, a small breed bunny that loves to dress up in the hats Welch has created.
The two are sure to get admiring glances from other bunnies that would love to have the ears, even if just to eat them.
Mimi certainly looks like the Easter bunny! Too cute for words.
