So close your eyes, clear your mind, and make a fist with your dominant hand. Now open your eyes and look at your fist. What do you see? This may just tell you something about yourself you didn’t know!

There are three main ways that we make fists as adults. The first type will present with the thumb over the fingers, pointing upward. The second type will show the thumb running across the fingers. Finally, the third will show the thumb tucked underneath the fingers.
Fist Type One: Strong

This personality doesn’t desire dominance over others; rather, it seeks to lead others. People with Type One fists will naturally rise to the top and be recognized by others for their strength of character.

They can harness their strong will to lead and to protect their teams, their friends, and their family. If your romantic partner has this fist, it’s likely that they take on the role of leader and defender in the relationship.
The challenge for this personality is to bring everyone along with them and make sure that they come across as leading by example rather than dictating or being bossy.

Fist Type Two: Honest

You put yourself out there in lots of different ways, approaching other people without any nervousness or apprehension and letting those closest to you at work and at home know exactly what you think.

Showing your thumb like this doesn’t mean that you’re a showoff. It just demonstrates that you don’t have anything to hide from other people. However, your honesty can sometimes provoke controversy, especially when people aren’t ready to hear the unvarnished truth about themselves!
The best thing about you is that you accept yourself! This gives you the strength to be proud of who you are and open to others.

Fist Type Three: Reflective

Because Type 3 personalities are calm and meditative, they sometimes come across to new people as shy and timid. But they’re not afraid of themselves or anyone else; rather, it takes them time to adjust their internal reality to the outside world.
When Type 3 personalities do get their turn to speak, others are usually impressed as they reveal unusual insights that are the products of long hours of thinking. They can see things others might miss, and this makes them useful on a team.

Now you know which type you are. Take a second to try this out with your partner, your friends, and co-workers and see which types they are. Regardless of your type, remember that it takes a village. Each type has something unique to contribute!
