2022 Infiniti QX55 Sensory AWD

Infiniti’s QX55 is an attention-getter, with its Dynamic Sunstone Red exterior and Graphite interior resting on 20-inch dark painted aluminum alloy wheels wearing all-season run-flat tires.

The QX55 is powered by a 2.0L variable compression turbo 4-cylinder engine, delivering up to 268 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. There is easy and assured driving with Intelligent All-Wheel Drive. My mileage for the week’s drive was a combined average of 27 mpg.

Adding to the exterior ensemble is the auto on/off cube design LED headlights, LED signature daytime running lights, and digital piano key taillights.

A power moonroof brings the outside inside, while roof rails hold an abundance of cargo topside. The motion-activated tailgate adds to the ease of loading and unloading cargo.

Remote start gets you going quickly, while the Head-Up Display keeps your attention ahead. Infiniti’s tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel helps finding a comfortable driving positioning.

Leather seating and leather-wrapped heated steering wheel add a touch of luxury. The higher mounted front seats allow you to sit tall, offering excellent visibility and posturing.

The Semi-Aniline leather front seats are climate controlled, adding to the premium touch while complementing the automatic climate control system.

The rear seats slide, recline, and fold flat, offering the flexibility for additional storage.

The Sensory model comes with ProPILOT Assist, which is Infiniti’s package of advanced driver assist features. This bundle includes Intelligent Cruise Control, Predictive Forward Collision Warning, Traffic Sign Recognition, Steering Assist with Lane Departure Prevention, Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection, and Blind Spot Intervention. Around View Monitor was my favorite.

There are more convenient features such as Front and Rear Parking Sensors and Distance Control Assist. Another one of my favorite safety feature was Forward Emergency Braking, which is most helpful in areas like large parking lots and parking garages.

The infotainment features dual HD displays. Wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Wi-Fi Hotspot add to the audio service. Bose Performance Series 16-speaker audio offers high-fidelity aural accompaniment, especially when involved in long distance pursuits.

Navigation with InTouch Mapcare and Premium Traffic were most helpful when planning a route through such large Texas cities as Dallas and Houston.

The QX55 is solidly constructed and envelops the occupants with comfort. It is ideal for short hauls and long journeys alike. The back is roomy and the cabin is laid out such that driving is less fatiguing, as opposed to some competitors. The ride is smooth and enjoyable, whether you take command behind the wheel or only lounge in the back seats.

The list price for 2022 Infiniti QX55 starts at $46,500 for the Luxe AWD model. Positioned the next above is the $51,600 Essential AWD, while the line-topping Sensory AWD carries a sticker price of $57,050.
