The new Traverse packs great looks and impressive functionalities in the midsize SUV form factor. Even though it is midsize, you have a choice of seating for up to eight, plus a possible 98.2 cubic feet of cargo space behind front seat.
Should the terrain become a little demanding, don’t worry. Traverse provides Traction Mode Select and available all-wheel-drive.
The Traverse can handle just about anything that happens in a driving situation, all feeling confident and assured. High Country trim is the best that Traverse has to offer.
The Traverse has a unique chrome grille that announces your approach, and 20-inch aluminum wheels that let this SUV roll in high style. The SkyScape dual-panel sunroof is framed by chrome roof rails.
For 2020, the High Country model offers four-wheel drive, and gives buyers a choice between an exclusive Loft Brown and Jet Black interior. Power fold-down third-row seating is standard. Numerous standard safety features include Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning.
Traverse delivers 310 horsepower with the 3.6-liter V6 engine, which is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission for effortless performance. Traverse delivers 25 mpg on highways and 17 mpg in the city for a respectable 20 mpg combined.
The fuel-saving stop/start technology allows the engine to automatically shut off when brake is applied and the vehicle comes to a stop. When the brake is released, the engine automatically turns back on.
The High Country AWD trim is factory-equipped with the trailering equipment feature pack, which allows it to tow up to 5,000 lbs. When towing/hauling, the Traverse will present it in the proper mode, keeping it in a low gear to come up with more torque when pulling a trailer.
Traction Mode Select mentioned earlier offers up to four modes. This feature allows you to adjust performance based on road surface conditions, with the simple turn of a dial.
First class interior features like perforated leather-appointed front and second-row seating surfaces are included, along with heated and ventilated front seats, and topped off with a leather wrapped steering wheel.
Second row passengers can expect heated seats as well. The High Country trim also adds suede microfiber accents on the instrument panel and doors.
With all seats up, the Traverse offers 23 cubic feet of cargo space. The Smart-Slide second-row seat lets you slide and tilt forward the passenger-side seat for quick and easy access to the third row.
The 2020 Traverse is large in size, but agile when parking and perky in the drive. The roomy cabin allows for good visibility, and easily accessible features make for a relaxed atmosphere.
Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price is $54,395 for the High Country AWD model.
