2020 Cadillac XT6 Premium Luxury FWD

This Caddy is powered by a 3.6-liter direct-injection V6 with VVT. This engine delivers up to 320 horsepower escorted by a 9-speed automatic transmission. 0-60 mph sprint is around 6.8-7.9 seconds.

The XT6 is a bold, big family-friendly SUV. The Premium Luxury model can be ordered with FWD or AWD, while the higher Sport trim is only available with AWD. Fuel economy for the FWD model is rated at 18 mpg city and 25 mpg highway for a 20-mpg combined average.

Moving up from the Premium FWD to the Sport package will add an additional $4,400. This package brings AWD, a better suspension, additional safety accoutrements, and various appearance improvements.

Cadillac XT6 has great suspension, stable handling, and effortless steering, which makes for a sure-fire, wonderful vehicle for a family outing. You’ll have good comfort regardless of road impairments.

The spacious front cabin is impressive, and second-row seats offering excellent relaxation even for the long drive. Even long legged folks can sit comfortably. The third row can only accommodate small children. I never used the third row because it compromises cargo space.

Admittedly, the inside was a little disappointing. Cadillac is generally known for luxury and interior styling, but the XT6 didn’t measure up. The quality just wasn’t there, yet the chrome exterior trim did add to overall appearance quality. Items like interior materials on the doors seats and console need some assistance.

The Cadillac User Experience (CUE) touchscreen infotainment system was easily mastered. I enjoyed the hand controls. The more buttons and knobs the better it is for me.

The 10-inch touchscreen responded quickly. The home menu was well laid out, allowing features like the audio system with Bose speakers to be brought up easily. The Bose system was perfect, especially together with the good sound insulation that extinguishes more cabin noise should you call for more power from the engine.

The cabin is comfortable and features are convenient. There is seating for seven and the Memory Package is standard. This package adds 2 memory presets for the driver’s seat, outside mirrors, and the steering column. Both front occupants enjoy heated seats with 8-way power adjustment and 2-way power lumbar control. All seats and the automatic heated steering wheel are upholstered in leather.

Outside, the XT6 rests on 20-inch 6-split spoke alloy wheels with Polish/Android finish. LED head lamps and LED daytime running lamps attractively ornate the front fascia, while the hands-free power lift gate greatly improves the utility of the back.

The Satin Steel Metallic painted exterior goes quite nicely with the All Jet Black interior. Standard safety features include Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Safety Alert Seat, and Front Pedestrian Braking.

The MSRP for the Premium Luxury trim is $53,690. There is a Platinum Package for $4,500 that provides acres and acres of leather (console, door, and seats,) and performance suspension.
