West, who has been vocal about his support for the president, is expected to meet with President Trump and Trump’s son-in-law and adviser Jared Kushner, the White House confirmed on Oct. 9.
“Topics of discussions will include manufacturing resurgence in America, prison reform, how to prevent gang violence, and what can be done to reduce violence in Chicago.”
A source had told the New York Times that West wants to talk with President Trump about how to increase the number of manufacturing jobs in the Chicago area.
West’s Wife Meets Trump
West’s wife Kim Kardashian West went to the White House in May to meet with President Trump, asking him to pardon a woman who was serving a life sentence for drug conspiracy and money laundering.“I would like to thank President Trump for his time this afternoon. It is our hope that the President will grant clemency to Ms. Alice Marie Johnson who is serving a life sentence for a first-time, non-violent drug offense,” Kardashian West said on Twitter the day after.
“We are optimistic about Ms. Johnson’s future and hopeful that she—and so many like her—will get a second chance at life.”
“Ms. Johnson has accepted responsibility for her past behavior and has been a model prisoner over the past two decades,” the White House stated in a release.
“Despite receiving a life sentence, Alice worked hard to rehabilitate herself in prison, and act as a mentor to her fellow inmates. Her Warden, Case Manager, and Vocational Training Instructor have all written letters in support of her clemency.”
West Supports Trump on ‘SNL’
Kanye West made waves recently when he wore a “Make America Great Again” hat while performing on “Saturday Night Live,” sparking a national discussion when he revealed he'd been bullied backstage at “SNL.”“They bullied me backstage. They said, ‘Don’t go out there with that hat on.’ They bullied me and then they said I’m in the sunken place!” he said during a speech on stage.
“I think the universe has balance. Ninety percent of news is liberal—90 percent of TV, L.A., New York, writers, rappers, musicians—so it’s easy to make it seem like it’s so, so, so one-sided.”
West sat down with TMZ’s Harvey Levin a few days later on Oct. 3, pushing back after Levin urged him to stop wearing the so-called “MAGA” hat.
“That’s my stance, as an American. I support our president, bottom line, no matter who they are. This represents to me [is], y’all can’t bully me.”
