“I think it’s amazing because I think that no culture should go unheard. Every culture should be heard and their creativity should be allowed to be out there,” said Linda Skelton, a jewelry maker.
“It’s a shame that it’s not [allowed to perform], so I think it’s a wonderful thing that they are bringing back the kindness and qualities that we need today. Kindness, humility, so I think it’s great,” Ms. Skelton said.
“It was magical. I’ve never seen anything like this to be honest. The color combos, the artistry of it connected with the music. Honestly, to sit through a show where there’s no talking, as it is completely to be entertained, it’s magical. And to bring your whole family, and not have to worry about anything that’s distasteful or embarrassing. It was wonderful. I’ll be going next year. I’m a fan,” Ms. Skelton said.Traditional Chinese values include loyalty, filial piety, compassion, and honesty. Through Shen Yun’s song and dance, these values are presented to the audience.
“We need them. They’re extremely relevant. Just taking your view of compassion—not thinking how it’s going to affect me but how it’s going to affect somebody else. Wow! What a different world we’d have,” Ms. Skelton said.
“I think the descriptions are definitely valid today. I do know that we have something better ahead in store. Let’s face it, we all want paradise. We all want life forever. None of us want to grow and die. So how beautiful to know that God does have that and stored it for us. I love that we learned that today. It was beautiful. That’ll make anyone feel good,” Ms. Skelton said.As a jewelry maker, she shared how the performance inspired her.
“I am inspired. For any artist, it’s so inspiring; the fuchsia, the orange, the green, the purple, it was amazing. Totally amazing.”
