Jets cornerback Antonio Cromartie worked at wide receiver Tuesday and caught a touchdown pass from third-string quarterback Greg McElroy, according to a report on the team’s website.

“I’m just trying to get the technique part down and have fun with it,” the cornerback said about getting to play wideout. “I’m dead serious. This is something I want to do, play both ways.”

With rookie wideout Stephen Hill having his finger wrapped Tuesday, according to a report on the NFL’s website, and second-year wideout Jeremy Kerley just recently returning from a hamstring injury, the Jets could use the depth.

The former Pro Bowler has plenty of speed as evidenced in his returning kicks for most of his career. He can catch a little, too, having led the NFL in interceptions with 10 in 2007.
