When the neighbor dog, a golden Labrador-Chow cross crept up and pulled Jeremy Triantafilo off his bike, Jeremy’s cat didn’t waste a second to lunge herself onto the dog and scare it away. The cat, reports say, saved the boy’s life.

The incident which happened on May 13, 2014, around 5 p.m. was miraculously caught on camera in the family’s driveway in Bakersfield, California. It shows how the lab crept around a white car and pounced onto Triantafilo’s left leg, who was pedaling a bike up the driveway. The boy then falls off his bike, just before his cat Tara flung herself onto the dog scaring it away.

In a separate video segment, four-year-old Triantafilo sits beside his cat in an armchair, proudly raises his arm into the air and announces: “She’s a hero!”

Roger Triantafilo, the father of the boy, posted the footage of the incident on Youtube on May 14, and it has since been viewed over 6.3 million times.

Mirror reported that Triantafilo has mild autism and is now spending much of his time bonding with the cat. He had stitches on his left leg where the dog sunk its teeth into, but is said to be speedily recovering.

According to the paper, Sgt. Joe Grubbs, Bakersfield Police spokesman, said the neighbor admitted that the lab didn’t like children or bicycles. The dog is confined to a ten-day quarantine and will then be euthanized.
