WORCESTER, Mass.—Rose Kuchta, a stained glass artist, was emotional after seeing Shen Yun Performing Arts.
“I didn’t know. It was just absolutely incredible ... When I saw it, I was like, do they actually—do they do this? Is this something that they did before communism hit China?” she said. “Was it like that?”
“After communism, everything was dark,” she said.
Mr. Kuchta added, “it was just spectacular.”
“Everything that they did was just fabulous,” Mrs. Kuchta said.
‘When I Hear it, My Feelings Come Out’
Also moved by the performers were Ms. Maria Tsoutis and Mr. John Hanlon.“I don’t think anybody should have let this pass them, because they have to see this,” said Mr. Hanlon. “This is an incredible show that they'll really enjoy for a long time. And I’m looking forward to see it again next year.”
“It was so professional that it was beyond words. These young people have a great future,” she said. “They have an understanding about executing and presenting their dance, to the public and to the world. And also expressing and showing, in this particular dance, the history of the country and what these people had to go through. It’s a presentation of the past to the present.”
“That was beautiful,” she said. “That instrument has a lot of feeling to it, and when I hear it, I my feelings come out. I can express my feelings, outwardly and inwardly, spiritually.”
For Kathleen and Dave Burns, Shen Yun presented the true spirit of China.
“I’ve been all through China, so I’m fully aware,” said Mr. Burns, who explained that Shen Yun captured the old, authentic China. “I would say the show is fantastic.”
Mrs. Burns said, “I wish it can show in China, and it’s amazing to see how far things have been lost since communism. It’s great to see all of the beauty, that [Shen Yun] kept it going for these years. It’s very sad.”
“The dancers are incredible. I enjoyed them tremendously,” she said. “The story needs to get out ... it’s so important.”
